Who are Land Registration Support?
My name is Russell Smith, I have over 20 years experience at Land Registry and more than 8 years experience working with 4 different private sector conveyancing firms running Post Completion departments. At Land Registry I progressed to Senior Casework Executive, gaining extensive expertise as a legal technician and also acquired a Diploma in Land Registration Law and Practice (ILEX/College of Law).
Moving into the private sector, it became clear to me very quickly that the issues proving most troublesome to conveyancers were connected to a lack of understanding of key subjects related to land registration law and practice. Difficulty resolving these issues caused delays, lower efficiency and client dissatisfaction and I was finding that the longer I spent at a firm, more and more of my time was being taken up problem-solving both pre-completion and post-completion issues.
Across all 4 firms the knowledge gaps turned out to be the same, so identifying an opportunity to offer my skills and experience to the wider market, Land Registration Support was created to do just that.
We offer firms two services:
The first is immediate troubleshooting support on request. If you have an issue on a file that’s proving difficult to resolve you can refer it to us and we will provide you with the solution for a pre-agreed fixed fee irrespective of complexity. We are here to save you time and money so there is no commitment or obligation on your part, you only need refer an issue as and when you need to. The aim of troubleshooting support is that by providing you with the answers to tricky or time-consuming issues as and when you come across them, it will greatly improve the accuracy, speed and efficiency of a transaction.
The second is training. We have designed a wide range of bespoke training modules specifically intended to address the gaps in knowledge other training course leave behind, all of them central to Land Registration Law and Practice, covering topics such as: Restrictions; Trusts and Co-ownership; Adverse Possession, Devolution of Title and so on.
